Ford Recalls 1.9 Million Explorers

Ford issued a recall for nearly 1.9 million Explorer SUVs from model years 2011-2019 because a piece of exterior trim can fall off, creating a hazard for other drivers.

Ford tells the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that a piece of exterior trim on the Explorer’s A-pillar (the support between the windshield and front window) may not be properly attached due to an assembly line error. Customers might notice a gap around the pillar or hear excessive wind noise from the area as it loosens. Ford said it is not aware of any accidents or injuries due to the issue.

Dealers will fix the problem by reinstalling the parts with additional adhesive.
