Ford Issues Second Recall Over F-150 Flickering Lights

Ford has recalled 2,361 F-150 pickups from model year 2022 because an earlier recall may not have fixed a problem with flickering parking lights.

The company recalled more than 16,000 of the trucks in 2024 because their parking lights could flicker when headlights or position lights are on. Dealers fixed most of them with a software update.

But the company has since learned that its software update process had a flaw. It could occasionally report success even when an installation failed. Dealers returned some trucks to owners, believing they were fixed when they weren’t.

Ford says it can identify the specific trucks that received a failed update. It has developed a new process that lets dealers ensure a successful installation. So, in this second recall, dealers will install the same update with the new process.
