All-Electric Ford F-150 Lightning: Our First Drive

There may be no more important new vehicle this year than the Ford F-150 Lightning.

It’s not hard to understand why.

For more than four decades, the Ford F-150 has been America’s best-selling vehicle. But the auto industry is going electric for reasons ranging from climate change to spiking fuel prices. So, Ford has built an electric F-150.

If it can meet the needs of truck drivers and stay affordable, it could be the tipping point that helps Americans go electric en masse.

On the affordability question — the Lightning ranges from $39,974 for a base model to over $90,000 with all the luxuries. A $7,500 federal EV tax rebate helps lower that.

As for all the other questions — our Micah Muzio tested the Lightning on-road and off to find the answers. Watch as he walks you through two days of testing.
