Ford has extended a program that bundles the cost of a home charger into the price of each of its electric vehicles (EVs) for 2025.
Called the Ford Power Promise, the program will now run through March 31, 2025.
It gives buyers of a new Ford F-150 Lightning truck, Mustang Mach-E SUV, or E-Transit cargo van a complimentary home charger and covers the cost of installation. The included Ford Charge Station Pro ordinarily retails for $1,310. Installation costs vary depending on the capacity of your home’s electrical system.
The offers is good on leased cars as well. Customers who don’t need a home charger can opt for a $1,000 bonus cash offer instead.
In a LinkedIn post, Ford Director of Retail Execution and Innovation Stacey Ferreira notes that the company has also “updated the existing Ford Roadside Assistance to offer proactive charging support and towing, for peace of mind if a customer does run out of charge.”
Most Charging Is Home Charging
For many EV owners, a home charger is critical to the cost savings of switching to electricity for transportation.
Most EV drivers do most of their charging at home, where charging is convenient and less costly. That leaves them needing public EV chargers only for trips outside their cars’ range.
When Ford owners need to take a road trip, they can use any public charger they find. Ford’s 2025 EVs are built to accept the Combined Charging System (CCS) plug found in many public charging stations and come with a complimentary adapter that lets them use Tesla Superchargers.
