Ford and its Lincoln luxury division have issued a recall for 780 Ford Escape and Lincoln Corsair SUVs from model years 2025-2026 due to a problem with the rear outboard seat belts.
The company tells the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), “The vehicle’s left rear and/or right rear seat belt retractor bolts may be improperly secured to the vehicle body.” That could leave them unable to properly restrain passengers in an accident.
Owners might notice a rattling noise coming from the seat belt, or find a seat belt that binds and won’t extend or retract.
Dealers will inspect the retractors and secure or replace them as needed to resolve the issue.
By law, dealers never charge for recall repairs.
Manufacturers recall many cars, often more than once, during their lifespan. Automakers try to contact every owner but don’t always reach them all. Discover if your vehicle has any outstanding recalls with the easy-to-use vehicle identification number (VIN) tool at our recall center.
