Ford Adds Free Charging to F-150 Lightning

2022 Ford F-150 LightningBuyers of Ford’s new F-150 Lightning electric pickup get an unexpected free throw-in with their new truck – 250 kilowatt-hours of free charging.

The deal comes out of a partnership between Ford and Electrify America. It mirrors a perk offered on Ford’s other electric vehicles (EVs) including the 2022 Mustang Mach-E SUV.

“For F-150 Lightning customers with the standard-range battery, the 250 kilowatt-hours of fast-charging energy is equal to nearly three ‘fill-ups,'” Ford says. That’s the equivalent of 575 miles of driving.

F-150 Lightning owners should find a message in their FordPass Rewards app allowing them to claim the offer.

The deal probably won’t help Ford sell any more Lightnings. Ford sold reservations for as many Lightnings as it can build in three years before the first one ever rolled off the assembly line.
