Megadealer and Hendrick Motorsports owner Rick Hendrick topped the bidding war for the first production-model 2017 Acura NSX with a $1.2 million offer at the annual Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale, Arizona. That stratospheric figure — nearly 10 times the base price of Acura’s new supercar — established a new record for any VIN 001 vehicle and earned Hendrick the right have this historic NSX built to his spec when assembly begins later this year. All proceeds from the sale support the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation and Camp Southern Ground.

Although late revamps pushed its launch date back to this spring changing what was slated to be a 2016 into a 2017 model, order books for the all-new second-generation NSX will open as scheduled on February 25th when the configurator goes live at Acura.com. Designed, developed and manufactured in America, the 2017 NSX matches a lightweight multi-material structure with a Sport Hybrid Super Handling All-Wheel Drive powertrain that promises stellar performance. Officially, NSX pricing will open at $157,800 and top out at $207,500 fully loaded.
