According to a report in the trade journal, Automotive News, every Ferrari produced beginning in 2019 will feature some sort of hybrid powertrain. The word came directly from Ferrari’s CEO Sergio Marchionne during a conference call to investors. Marchionne, who also heads Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) said the change to hybrid power will allow Ferrari to increase its production beyond 8,000 vehicles per year, a level constrained by CO2 emissions regulations. Hybridization while also create vehicles with better performance.
While Marchionne did not offer specifics on exactly how many of these new hybrids the iconic marque might end up producing annually, he indicated it could be in excess of 10,000 by the middle of the next decade. In addition to hybrid power, he hinted growth could come from expansion of the model range into more luxury-oriented variants.
