Dodge has listed prices for some trim levels on its website (it shows as $30,590, which accounts for the destination fee).

The Hornet is Dodge’s new compact crossover. Dodge CEO Tim Kuniskis has called it the “gateway to Dodge muscle,” with aggressive styling and powertrain options good for up to 288 horsepower in day-to-day driving.

The company has announced prices for the base GT model. It uses a 268-horsepower 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine from Dodge’s new Hurricane lineup. It sends power through a 9-speed automatic transmission to a full-time all-wheel-drive (AWD) system.

We’re still waiting for official pricing on the more powerful R/T edition, a plug-in hybrid capable of driving more than 30 miles on electric power alone before its 1.3-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine turns on, has the full 288 horses. But it’s capable of more in brief bursts. A “Powershot” button adds 25 horsepower for a few seconds.

The Hornet shares much of its architecture with the upcoming Alfa Romeo Tonale, but has unique Dodge styling to set it apart. On the outside, that means air vents in the hood and a narrow slit grille above larger intakes beneath.

Inside, it gets a 12.3-inch digital instrument display for the driver and a 10.25-inch Uconnect 5 infotainment system in the center stack. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard. Preferences for everything from the home screen layout to temperature settings and preferred music choices are programmable by the driver.

It’s the only vehicle in the Dodge lineup with any electric power today, but that won’t remain true for long. The company has announced an electric muscle car and opened orders for a series of special edition Chargers and Challengers that mark the end of the line for those cars.
