The Dodge Durango Hellcat can’t be contained. Dodge meant the big beast to be a one-year offering. But the 710-horsepower, 3-row SUV will be back for 2023.
“Muscle enthusiasts also have families,” explains Dodge CEO Tim Kuniskis. “The 2023 Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat can get those families where they want to go and has the ability to tow 8,700 pounds.”
710 Horses, Seating for 7
If you missed it the first time, the Durango SRT Hellcat is a Durango SUV equipped with a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 making 710 horsepower and 645 pound-feet of torque. Dodge claims a 0-60 mph time of 3.5 seconds for the big SUV. It posted a National Hot Rod Association-certified quarter-mile elapsed time of 11.5 seconds. Speed tops out at 180 mph.
The last time Dodge sold the Durangeo Hellcat, for the 2021 model year, it wore a sticker price of a little under $83,000 – about as much as two-and-a-half base-model Durangos. Dodge hasn’t announced pricing for 2023, but we should note that the Hellcat tends to sell at a significant markup, anyway. The window sticker doesn’t give you much useful information if you want one of these.
No Mechanical Changes, Some New Choices
Mechanically, nothing has changed for 2023. It retains its complicated front fascia, including a chin splitter, engine oil cooler duct, air guide, and inlet for cold air induction. A rear spoiler is functional, Dodge says, providing 140 pounds of downforce to the rear wheels at full speed.
Drive modes include Street, Sport, Track, and a Custom setting that lets owners set their own preferences.
Inside, the cabin remains the same in standard trim. But a Plus package adds Laguna leather seats and a power sunroof. A Premium package adds red seatbelts, a leather-wrapped instrument panel, carbon fiber interior accents, and a 19-speaker sound system by Harman Kardon.
An available Blacktop package adds gloss black badging, gloss black mirror caps, and 20-inch black wheels.
