Although it is a trade show devoted to consumer electronics, CES has expanded from its focus on the latest in gaming gear and televisions, now also embracing the auto industry’s drive towards advanced technology, including alternative powertrains and autonomous operation.
This year’s show features major announcements from startups like Faraday Future and from traditional automakers, including Ford, GM, Chrysler, BMW, Honda, VW and Nissan. These announcements run the gamut from unveiling entire vehicles to showing the latest in interactive instrument displays. Autonomous driving features and apps will be the order of the day by many of the makers. So important has CES become that other auto shows are beginning to emulate the conference’s approach by incorporating more tech-oriented seminars into their programs.
We’ll be live-streaming some of the major announcements above, so keep your eye out for a first look at what’s next.
