Chrysler Recalls Over 400,000 Vehicles for Trailer Brake Issues

2026 RAM 1500 Front 3 quarter view

Chrysler has recalled 456,287 vehicles across various models and years due to a defect with the trailer tow module. Affected models are as follows:

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) report states that “Some vehicles that are equipped with a trailer tow module may experience a loss of trailer lighting and/or trailer brakes.”

This issue may cause the trailer’s turn signal to stop flashing when the lever is engaged, leaving cars behind the affected vehicle without a visual cue that the trailer is turning. The report also states, “The loss of trailer brakes can also cause a vehicle crash without prior warning.”

Chrysler is not aware of any warranty claims, accidents, or injuries related to this recall.

Chrysler dealers plan on remedying the issue by installing an updated trailer tow module. This service is free of charge, as recall repairs always are.

Owners with affected vehicles will be notified beginning March 24, 2026.
