Chevy to Preview Electric Pickup Next Week

2020 Chevrolet Silverado RST

General Motors CEO Mary Barra will give the opening keynote address at next week’s all-digital, COVID-19-limited Consumer Electronics Show. She will address the automaker’s efforts to electrify its fleet, and take the wraps off a new plug-in pickup truck based on GM’s best-selling vehicle, the Chevy Silverado.

Bloomberg reports that the truck Barra reveals will be “a plug-in Chevrolet pickup,” though it isn’t clear whether that means an all-electric truck or a plug-in hybrid. Barra will also reveal “some Cadillac models, and vehicles for other brands,” the report claims.

GM has already revealed a Hummer electric vehicle, slated to go on sale for the 2022 model year. The company plans to make Cadillac an all-electric brand, with a target date of 2025. As a result, we may see several Cadillac EV prototypes next week. Buick remains the only GM nameplate with no EV in its lineup, which the company could also correct next week.
