Having been totally redesigned for the 2019 model year, the sporty and stylish current-generation Mazda3 is now becoming available in meaningful numbers as a certified pre-owned vehicle. Let’s have a look at the car and the coverage to help you decide if a factory-certified Mazda3 is the used car for you.
Qualified and Certified
Every certified pre-owned (CPO) Mazda3 is less than 6 years old, has fewer than 80,000 miles, and has passed a 160-point inspection by a Mazda-certified technician.
Longer Warranty
Certified Mazda3 sedans and hatchbacks come with at least 12 months or 12,000 miles of warranty coverage. If the vehicle is still covered by its original 3-year/36,000-mile new vehicle warranty, the extra coverage doesn’t kick in until the new car warranty expires. The engine, transmission, and related parts are covered for 7 years or 100,000 miles from the vehicle’s original sale date, and emergency roadside assistance is included for the same duration. Those warranties are transferable to a subsequent buyer, and there’s no deductible for covered repairs.
An All-Time All-Star
It’s not hyperbole to call the Mazda3 one of the most stylish and fun-to-drive compact cars of all time. But it’s also a solid value, thanks in large part to good resale values and a reputation for reliability. It tends to run a bit pricier than segment stalwarts like the Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla, but in some ways it’s a slightly more premium vehicle.
Two Body Styles
Most Kelley Blue Book editors prefer the added cargo versatility of a hatchback. But more car-shopping Americans still favor the more traditional look – and slightly quieter passenger cabin – of a sedan. The Mazda3 is one of several compact cars that give you a choice.
Available All-Wheel Drive
With its 2019 redesign, the Mazda3 became only the second compact car to offer the added traction of all-wheel drive. Until then, the Subaru Impreza was the only game in town. Standard front-wheel drive is good enough for most Mazda3 drivers, but for buyers in some parts of the country – you know who you are – that’s not a small selling point.
Premium Interior
Boasting gorgeous design and smart touches with high-quality materials, the Mazda3’s class-above interior is one of its more alluring advantages. On the downside, the Mazda3 is smaller inside than most compact cars, noticeable mostly to backseat passengers.
5-Star Safety Rating
The Mazda3 earned a 5-Star Overall Rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. And when equipped with available collision avoidance technology, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety calls it a Top Safety Pick.
