Cadillac will begin the transformation of its renowned Escalade into a more eco-friendly design.
“Built in Detroit, Revealed in NYC,” the brand announced alongside a teaser photo of the luxurious SUV. The Escalade IQ will be revealed on Aug. 9. Cadillac released a short trailer video teasing the full-size SUV this week.
Even with the SUV’s details almost completely shadowed, the Escalade’s silhouette is recognizable. The vehicle’s Black Crystal Shield grille glows, illuminated by detailed LED lighting. The video finishes with a glimpse of a darkened interior cabin through the panoramic Fixed Smart Glass Roof.
Cadillac announced in May that the Escalade IQ would join the brand’s other electric vehicles (EVs), the Lyriq and Celestiq. They carry almost, if not absolutely, identical front shields and light designs.
Inside, they share a wide-set screen. The Escalade IQ will likely have added features of Google built-in, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay, just like the previously released vehicles under Cadillac.
The company plans to carry a diverse range of electric vehicles by the end of the decade. Parent company GM plans a mostly electric lineup by 2035. The Escalade is Cadillac’s best-selling vehicle. Many Escalade fans may want to stick with gasoline power. But 3-row EVs remain rare, and an electric Escalade might intrigue new shoppers who have few options for EVs that can carry eight.
