Cadillac has recalled 25 XT4 SUVs from model year 2025 because their passenger-side airbags might not deploy in an accident. Dealers have been asked to stop delivering XT4s to customers until the company can repair models in dealer stock.
The passenger-side airbag deploys through a perforation in the underside of an instrument panel. Cadillac tells the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that a supplier failed to cut that perforation on some XT4s. Without it, the airbag can’t deploy where it’s needed.
GM is aware of no accidents or injuries related to the problem, which the company discovered in a factory inspection.
Dealers will replace the instrument panel cover with a properly scored one to fix the problem. Recall repairs are always free.
Many cars face recalls at some point in their lives. Automakers try to contact every owner to let them know they must bring their vehicle in for repairs. But they aren’t always successful in finding everyone. You can see whether your car has any unaddressed recall issues using our recall center.
