Cadillac planned to build just 250 examples of each of its new Blackwing sedans. But the cars, available for the first time Tuesday, sold out in minutes. The automaker now plans a second production run of each car, and has begun accepting waitlist requests.
The Blackwings are high-performance editions of Cadillac’s CT4 and CT5 sedans. With more powerful engines, wider tires for added grip, upgraded suspensions, and other performance tweaks, they are still functional four-seater sedans…but with track day credentials.
They’re also not cheap. The CT4-V Blackwing starts at $59,990 – up from the $33,395 MSRP of the standard CT4. The CT5-V Blackwing, with its more powerful V8 engine, starts at $84,990 – a hefty premium over the CT5’s $36,995 starting price.
The initial run of Blackwing cars feature number plates that indicate each is part of a 250-unit run. Cadillac has isn’t saying what will take the place of the plaque now that more Blackwing models are coming.
For those who want a high-powered, gas-driven Cadillac, this may be your last chance. The automaker says these are the last gasoline-power V cars before it transitions to an all-electric lineup.
