Borgward announced its return to the world of active automakers after a 55-year hiatus with the reveal of its BX7 crossover SUV at the 2015 Frankfurt Auto Show. This September, it will return to the German venue with another new model. Although the firm has yet to offer any information on this latest creation, the teaser image released indicates it will be some type of sporty offering. The accompanying tag line “She is back!” has led to speculation we could see a new-gen variation of the Isabella, a vehicle Borgward produced in a number of different body configurations during its final years of operation, the most memorable being a stylish coupe.

Although sales of the BX7 and smaller BX5 SUV models currently remain confined to China, Borgward has recently launched a broader global marketing effort that will see it expand into several Middle East countries this year and follow up with moves into South America and Europe. While the U.S. remains on its ultimate wish list, there’s still a long, long way to go before that goal takes any kind of priority.
