Buyers of new 2015 BMW models sold or leased from an authorized dealer after July 1 of this year should be aware of an important change to terms of coverage included in the BMW Maintenance Program. With one key exception, this no-cost scheduled service package which is given in addition to the standard 4-year/50,000-mile New Vehicle Limited Warranty will be confined to the original owner.

The sole exception is that BMW will allow the transfer of the maintenance plan with the car title to members of the owner’s household, who are defined as "a current or former spouse or spousal equivalent, child, sibling, parent, grandparent, or grandchild." As for non-related second owners/lessees looking to replace coverage in the original Maintenance Program, BMW is offering a new full-maintenance alternative package that will cover these vehicles for up to 100,000 miles.
