Bentley has recalled 130 Bentayga Hybrid SUVs from model year 2023 because their batteries can overheat while charging. That, Bentley says, “could lead to thermal propagation, which may result in a fire hazard.”
The company knows of no fires or injuries related to the problem, which was discovered by a different brand under the umbrella of Bentley parent Volkswagen.
Dealers will install new battery management software, which should then help identify batteries at risk of fire. Bentley will replace those. It anticipates that approximately 1% of the batteries will need replacement.
By law, dealers never charge for recall repairs.
Manufacturers recall many cars, often more than once, during their lifespan. Automakers try to contact every owner but don’t always reach them all. Discover if your vehicle has any outstanding recalls with the easy-to-use vehicle identification number (VIN) tool at our recall center.
