Audi has stopped building its flagship electric SUV. Company officials confirmed to multiple media outlets today that a Brussels factory has already stopped building the Q8 e-tron and its sportier Q8 e-tron Sportback derivative.
But the brand won’t go long without a top-of-the-line electric vehicle (EV). An Audi spokesperson told Car and Driver, “A successor is in the works.”
Dealers still have some 2025 Q8 e-trons on the lot.
They start at $76,095 including destination fee, and come extremely well-equipped for under $90,000, a rarity for flagship luxury EVs.
Our test drivers have found them stylish and well-rounded. We appreciate the option to put a charging port on both sides, making it easy to work with any public charger you find. A serene highway ride and a temporary horsepower boost when you need it make them great highway rides.
They have limitations for anyone who takes frequent road trips. Their advertised range peaks at just 272 miles and, in real-world driving, they often fall short of it.
The biggest problem with the Q8 e-tron, however, might be how good the Q6 e-tron is. That slightly smaller electric SUV has similar power, a more updated cabin, longer range, and faster charging.
It’s hard to impress buyers with your top-of-the-line model if the one next to it in the showroom beats it in many ways and costs less. We expect Audi to return with a larger, more upscale Q8 e-tron in the long run.
