Audi A5 Coupe Expected June 2

Audi will unveil its redesigned A5 Coupe will take place on June 2 at the company headquarters in Ingolstadt, Germany. The wraps will officially come off following the culmination of a six-night “Audi Late Light Show” spectacular that will see the main Audi Forum building at its adjoining Piazza transformed into a unique realm of computer-generated 3D images and sounds intended to merge art and technology into one. The automaker also noted that the Audi Museum will be presenting a collection of 12 historic Audi coupes throughout the month of May in conjunction with the light show.

Other than this teaser graphic of what the company’s headquarters might look like during the display, Audi provided no additional information or images of the new A5 Coupe itself. However, we expect the Gen II version of this sporty 2-door will be based on a modified version of the automaker’s versatile MLB Evo platform and offer bolder styling along with the latest in infotainment/safety systems. With aluminum set to make up a greater percentage of its basic architecture and bodywork, the new Audi Coupe is rumored to be nearly 220 pounds lighter. This upcoming iteration should continue to be available in both A5 and hotter S5 forms. We’ll know more in a month.
