Aston Martin Teases “World’s Most Powerful Luxury SUV”

The 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 in the Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT makes 631 horsepower.

The 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 in the Lamborghini Urus makes 641 horsepower.

The 6.0-liter W12 engine (you read it right) in the Bentley Bentayga makes 626 horsepower.

Aston Martin says it has them all beat. The British exotic car maker sent out a teaser photo of an upcoming vehicle it calls “the world’s most powerful luxury SUV.”

The heavily shadowed teaser shows a sleek midsize SUV in profile. It appears to be an evolution of the company’s existing 2022 DBX – an ultra-luxury 5-seater with a limited-slip differential, adaptive dampers, and height-adjustable air springs to make it handle much lighter than its nearly-5,000-pound curb weight would make you expect.

The new version will make its full debut on February 1. We expect it to be called the DBX S in keeping with Aston’s usual nomenclature for sportier editions.

In the meantime, we can see a big roof-mounted spoiler and a lower ride height, suggesting some updates to the suspension. It wears unique 5-spoke wheels not available on any current DBX.

It may claim the “most powerful SUV” model for a while. But enthusiasts will note that Ferrari’s long-rumored first SUV, the Purosangue, may enter the horsepower wars before 2022 is out.
