Seen here as a design rendering and heading to next-month’s SEMA Show in Las Vegas, the ARK Performance Hyundai Genesis Coupe is a track-focused take on the automaker’s already-hot 3.8 R-Spec model. This low-slung, high-profile screamer is getting a comprehensive makeover from one of Hyundai‘s favorite aftermarket house: the go-faster wizards at ARK Performance in Chino, California.
A full body kit that includes a carbon fiber hood, decklid and rear wing plus custom rear overfenders and diffuser raise the visual presence of this born-to-run one-off. Completing the look is a set of Yokohama ADVAN RS2 lightweight alloy wheels wrapped in sticky Nitto NT05 performance rubber. Inside, the car features a JPM Coachworks competition-spec cabin treatment highlighted by a Cusco 8-point chromoly roll cage and a Sparco steering wheel and racing seats.
The 3.8 R-Spec’s standard-issue 3.8-liter direct-injected V6 comes in for a similar makeover. Bolstering its full blueprinting job is a Brian Crower stroker kit and performance crankshaft plus upgraded pistons and connecting rods. It also gains an ARK designed intake system, ceramic-coated headers and heavy-duty oil cooler. Collectively, the changes bump output from 348 to 395 horsepower and raises peak torque from 295 to 340 lb-ft. To help best cope with that newfound muscle, an ARK dual-mass flywheel and carbon-plate clutch kit transfer power to the car’s 6-speed manual transmission, which ultimately ships it to the rear wheels by way of a Cusco limited-slip differential.
Chassis changes to ARK’s overachieving Genesis Coupe include a house-designed coil-over performance suspension augmented with various Cusco components. Big 6-piston brakes with ARK carbon brake pads and stainless steel lines ensure stopping power is commensurate with the car’s ability to get up and go.
