If your last name is Washington and you’d love to wrangle yourself a new Jeep, then by George, you may just get it. Jeep announced that it is going “all in on America” this summer by hosting a sweepstakes of the most patriotic kind.
If the United States soccer team defies the odds and wins the World Cup, the first 100 eligible living Americans named George Washington will have the chance to win a new Jeep Wrangler.
The Fine Print
Before you go changing your name, here are the official rules:
- Your name has to legally be George Washington.
- You must be a U.S. resident and at least 18 years of age.
- You have to register to win. Registration is open now through the final match of the World Cup.
- The first 100 verified registrants will be eligible.
- The U.S. has to win it all.
Monumental Odds
Sounds great, right? Here’s the catch: The U.S. is not favored to win the World Cup. The New York Times puts a U.S. victory at 1.2%. But then again, the odds were against the U.S. winning the Revolutionary War, too.
Unhinged in the Best Possible Way
Jeep’s Chief Soccer Officer and comedian Iliza Shlesinger announced the giveaway on social media.
“The Jeep brand has always represented freedom, adventure and a little bit of rebellion, so giving George Washingtons across America the chance to get a Jeep Wrangler felt perfectly unhinged in the best possible way,” she said in a press release.
For all the George Washingtons out there, may the odds be forever in your favor.
