Revealed: 2013 Chrysler 300 Motown Edition - Detroit 2013
A mobile homage to the legendary music heritage of the Motor City, the 2013 Chrysler 300 Motown Edition will make its first public appearance at the Detroit show before rolling into showrooms next spring. This distinctive version of Chrysler's flagship sedan will be showcased in a 60-second commercial featuring Motown Records founder Berry Gordy and come with an SD card for its UConnect infotainment system pre-loaded with 100 historic tracks by the original roster of Motown artists.
Powered by Chrysler's 292-horsepower/3.6-liter Pentastar V6 backed by an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission, the new Chrysler 300 Motown Edition boasts a number of unique exterior and interior design elements. Available in Bright White, Gloss Black, Deep Cherry Red and a new Jazz Blue, the Motown makeover on this special edition 300 starts with a major dollop of pure bling courtesy of a seven-element Mopar bright chrome grille and similarly shiny front and rear fascia accents, mirror caps, door handles and window surrounds. Black-accented Chrysler wing badges and "Motown" fender badges complete the cosmetic remake while the car's touring-spec suspension works with custom 20-inch polished "heritage" design aluminum wheels.
Inside, the 2013 Chrysler 300 Motown Edition features Pearl White Nappa leather seats with perforated inserts and a debossed "Motown" logo set off by black piping and accents stripes. A contrasting "noir theme" permeates the rest of the cabin trim highlighted by the generous use of Piano Black, real Black Olive Ash wood trim and satin silver accents.
The 2013 Chrysler 300 Motown Edition will start at $33,990 when it goes on sale in March. Timing of its arrival is set to coincide with the opening of a new show in New York City entitled "Motown: The Musical," that features a book by Berry Gordy and music and lyrics from the Motown catalogue.
