2018 Lincoln Navigator: It’s a stretch
Unveiled at the New York Auto Show, the all-new 2018 Lincoln Navigator will have a broader lineup with word that the standard wheelbase models will be joined by an extended-length version when this luxury SUV goes on sale in the fall. The new Navigator also will add to its Black Label trim grade with an elegant new Destination interior theme designed “to celebrate the art of travel.”
Measuring 221.9 inches nose to tail, the extended-length Navigator is nearly a foot longer than the standard model and boasts an additional 9.1 inches of wheelbase. That combo pays off in several ways. For starters, the longer rear door makes entry/exit to the aft quarters easier and also adds legroom to both rows. But the stretch also expands the basic cargo area behind row three by 15 cu ft and gives it best-in-class cargo volume behind the second row as well. Finally, this new Navigator L-spec also boasts a supplemental storage compartment below the floor behind the third row.
Available on range-topping Black Label Navigator models in both standard and long-wheelbase configurations, the new Destination interior trim treatment displays the luxury flair found in the existing Chalet and Yacht Club themes. Inspired by vintage luggage, it features a monochromatic look that pairs Mahogany Red Venetian leather with a diamond-weave design on the seat inserts and khaya wood laser-etched appliqués that subtly reprise that pattern. As before, the Black Label trim also includes a bounty of premium features including a voice/touch navigation system, 20-speaker Revel Ultima audio, tri-zone auto climate control, adaptive suspension, Lincoln Connect with 4G Wi-Fi hotspot and a Technology Package with an array of driver assists.
All versions of the 2018 Lincoln Navigator share the same 450-horsepower/3.5-liter twin-turbo EcoBoost V6 backed by a 10-speed automatic transmission. All long-wheelbase variants come with 22-inch alloy wheels in place of the 20-inch rims on the standard Navigator. The extended Navigator will be available in Select L, Reserve L and Black Label L guise, which start at $81,945, $84,405 and $96,905, respectively.
