2017 Ferrari GTC4Lusso T Debuts in Paris
The first variation of the Ferrari GTC4Lusso unveiled last spring in Geneva is bowing at the Paris Motor Show. The 2017 Ferrari GTC4Lusso T is the entry-level trim for this shooting brake which comes with the turbocharged V8 in place of the V12 that will be still be offered in the upper range models.
The new GTC4Lusso has a more potent version of the 3.9-liter twin-turbo V8 found in the Ferrari California T. Here it makes an impressive 602 horsepower and 560 lb-ft of torque compared to the 680 horses and 514 lb-ft developed by the V12. The turbochargers on the V8 feature Variable Boost Management that virtually eliminates turbo lag at low speeds and provides variable torque curves between third and top gear on its 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission to ensure smooth and progressive acceleration. The GTC4Lusso T sprints from 0-62 mph in 3.5 seconds and has a top speed of 199 mpg compared to the V12’s 3.4-tick/208 mph stats.
Another key change in the new GTC4Lusso T package involves the switch from all-wheel drive to a rear-drive configuration. Like its V12-powered kin the T-spec version of this elegant coupe features 4WS rear-wheel steering integrated with Ferrari’s third-generation Side Slip Control, although both have been adapted for this application. Ferrari has indicated the new GTC4Lusso T will be about 175 pounds lighter than the V12 model and have a slightly better 46/54-percent front/rear weight distribution which should help in putting power to the pavement.
Inside, the new GTC4 Lusso T retains the same look and feel of the 12-cylinder version, complete with the Dual Cockpit dash design and the latest iteration of Ferrari’s infotainment system that includes a 10.25-inch high-def capacitive touchscreen. No word yet on a specific U.S. arrival for the new 2017 Ferrari GTC4Lusso T nor its price, which should be somewhat less than the $300,000 commanded by the V12 model.
