- Acura will pause production of its 2026 RDX SUV later this year over parts shortages.
- A replacement is due and will feature hybrid power.
Acura’s RDX compact SUV will take a leave of absence soon, returning with hybrid power “within the next couple of years.” Company executives revealed the plans in a briefing for reporters yesterday.
Production of the current model will end before the replacement is ready. Acura officials said “several suppliers are no longer in a position to keep supplying key parts.”
That will take the well-reviewed RDX off the market until its replacement is ready. Executives didn’t say whether it will return as a 2028 or 2029 model.
They did say to expect hybrid power. They offered no details, but the RDX has long shared the platform of the CR-V, which comes in a hybrid model that gets up to 40 mpg in combined city/highway driving.
A teaser image provided to reporters amounted to little more than a silhouette, but suggested a brawnier look with a flatter roofline and prominent rear fender bulges that keeps the signature Acura sharp-beaked nose.
