Acura has previewed a new electric vehicle (EV) with an old name, set to debut new cabin technologies that learn the driver’s preferences and adapt.

Officially, the Acura RSX is a prototype, but Acura says a production version is “expected to arrive in the second half of 2026.”

And yes, you may have heard that name before. Acura built a sporty coupe under that name from model years 2002 through 2006.

This car has little in common with that one.

The RSX blends aspects of sporty coupes and high-riding SUVs. It might be the best-looking Acura SUV. It also stands out. Most SUV designers in 2025 have produced boxy, rugged vehicles that sit on dealership lots looking ready for a trek through the jungle. The sleek, angular RSX looks a little like a prepubescent Lamborghini Urus.

A fastback roofline trades away some cargo space to get those racy looks.

The company has revealed almost no specifications. We know the car is electric, uses the Tesla-style NACS charger port, sits on 21-inch wheels in this prototype form, and uses brakes from the high-performance brand Brembo. That’s it.

The company hasn’t disclosed range, power figures, or price. They haven’t given anyone outside of the company a look inside, either.

What will Acura talk about with this car? Software.

Asimo OS Learns Your Preferences

  • The RSX uses Honda’s new Asimo OS, which includes a personalized voice assistant
  • It will come to market before Honda’s next planned EVs

The RSX will be the first vehicle to go on sale using parent company Honda’s new Asimo Operating System. We experienced Asimo OS a little at January’s CES consumer electronics show.

Honda brought it as part of the premiere of two radically styled EVs, the 0 Series Saloon and 0 Series SUV. In those cars, Asimo includes an AI-powered voice assistant. In a demonstration, it carried on a conversation with a driver, asking how the meeting went (it had access to her schedule), offering a relaxation playlist (because it didn’t go well), and reminding her of her sister’s birthday.

Acura doesn’t specifically say the RSX will have the chipper robot buddy, but it would be odd for luxury brand Acura to skip a feature mainstream Honda offered. Acura does promise Asimo OS will “offer a personalized experience that will enhance the joy of driving and the ownership experience,” and learn owner preferences “such as music choices and driver behavior.”

The RSX will be the first vehicle to go on sale built on Honda’s new EV platform, reaching dealerships before either 0 Series car.
