Acura Recalls RDX Over Power Steering Loss

Acura has recalled 17,334 RDX SUVs from model year 2025 because they can lose power steering assist, making them harder to steer. Drivers can still control the cars if that happens, but it will require more effort than expected, which could contribute to an accident.

Acura tells the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that “An improper electronic power steering (EPS) software calibration may cause the EPS system to enter failsafe mode under certain vehicle operating conditions.”

Specifically, the power steering system can shut down if the car is in Comfort Mode and the lane keeping system is active when the driver makes a sharp steering input.

Acura says it is aware of “84 warranty claims and no reports of an injury or death related to this issue.”

Dealers will reprogram the software to prevent the problem from developing.
