Automakers show off concept cars all the time, but they rarely go on sale without significant changes and a healthy round of taming down. The new Genesis GV90 is a rare exception to that rule, sporting unique rear coach doors, innovative safety equipment, and extensive tech features. Genesis just debuted the new electric flagship 3-row SUV ahead of its expected release later this year.

The GV90 is based on Genesis’ Neolun concept, which was first shown in 2024. Holding close to the concept, the production model will be available in a Neolun trim, which gets the boldest of the new features. The standard GV90 has some, but not all, of the forward-looking gadgetry.
In place of traditional doors, Neolun models come with the Arch Gate, which Genesis said is “the world’s first independently opening and closing hidden B-pillar coach doors.” For reference, coach doors open rearward, opposite of traditional door hinges.
Genesis also equips the world’s first roof airbag, and both available trims come with a 123.5-kWh high-capacity, high-voltage battery system. Power is routed through dual electronic limited-slip differentials, and the SUV rides on a multi-chamber air suspension system.
Genesis estimates a 310-mile driving range and states that the GV90 can charge from 10% to 80% in 22 minutes using a 350-kW fast charger. The dual-motor electric powertrain delivers 657 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque, and both trims have active rear-wheel steering, which gives them a tighter turning radius and easier maneuverability.

Upon entry, the vehicle starts with a press of the brake pedal. Passengers can close the doors just by pulling the handle, activating the automatic-close feature. Genesis equips a 23.6-inch display system. A 25-inch head-up display is also standard.
The infotainment system runs on a new interface called Pleos Connect. The Android-based interface offers third-party app downloads, over-the-air updates, and enables new driver-assistance features, like Remote Smart Parking Assist 3 and a new Memory Reversing Assist function that memorizes the vehicle’s path into a parking spot to allow automated exits.
In its reveal, Genesis showed off striking models with 4-seat configurations that use opulent materials, including a genuine wood veneer floor inspired by Korean “ondol” underfloor heating that uses radiant heating to warm the interior. Genesis also showed models with swiveling front-row seats, but we are still working to confirm if they will be available for the U.S. market.
Stay tuned for more information on the 2027 GV90, including pricing, as this new flagship SUV approaches its on-sale date early next year.
