- New tech in the 2026 Porsche Macan Electric includes a hands-off reverse driving feature

If you’ve driven it forward, the 2026 Porsche Macan Electric can drive it in reverse. A new Reversing Assist system, Porsche says, “enables the car to automatically reverse along a route it has previously driven forwards – ideal for narrow access roads or winding parking garages.”
It works for distances up to 160 feet, and it’s one of several new high-tech conveniences in Porsche’s most affordable and mainstream electric vehicle (EV).
“Affordable” is a relative term with Porsche. The 2026 Macan Electric starts at $80,350 after a $2,350 destination fee.
Porsche just released pricing and equipment details for its electric compact luxury SUV. The Macan EV is too new for major design changes, but Porsche has made it more attractive for the new model year by introducing some unique new conveniences.
Trained Parking, AI Voice Assistant

The car can reverse itself without your hands on the wheel. It can park itself, too. Porsche explains, “The Active Parking Assistance system detects suitable parking spaces and automatically takes over the steering as well as forward and backward movements when parking in parallel or perpendicular parking spaces.”
We’ll have to test it to know whether it’s worth using. Several automakers offer similar systems that work, but function so slowly that some drivers find themselves taking over to avoid backing up traffic. (It’s me, I’m “some drivers.”)
The Macan EV, however, can remember its usual parking spots. A Trained Parking system can “record individual parking routines and perform them automatically.” Teach it how to park in up to five spaces you use regularly, and it will take over and park in them for you.
A new voice assistant (Porsche calls it “Voice Pilot”) uses input from “various language models, as is known from well-known AI assistants” to let you control many car functions through voice commands. Porsche says it “understands complex, interrelated questions and recognizes what a statement is referring to.”
Other new goodies include the Transparent Hood setting that shows a virtual view of the area in front of the vehicle on the central screen, in-car gaming through AirConsole, and the ability to use your smartphone or smartwatch as a digital key.

All prices include a $2,350 delivery fee – one of the highest we’ve seen. The 2026 Macan Electric is available for order now, with deliveries starting in spring of 2026.
