  • Nissan has introduced a redesigned Sentra compact sedan for 2026, though it uses the same engine and transmission as last year
  • A new look, larger screens, and new driver assistance tech haven’t driven the price much higher

Nissan introduced a new generation of its Sentra compact sedan for the 2026 model year, with new driver assistance technology, an updated look, and refreshed cabin tech. But the updates haven’t done much to the price.

The 2026 Nissan Sentra will start at $23,645, including the mandatory $1,245 delivery fee. That’s just $810 more than the 2025 model it replaced.

New Technology, Not New Drivetrain

  • Updates changed the inside and outside of the car, but not its mechanical parts

Automakers redesign most cars from the wheels up about every seven years. At the halfway point of a car’s run, they give it a visual and technological makeover, called a midcycle refresh.

Nissan is calling the 2026 Sentra an all-new car, but the company is stretching the term a bit to do so. It returns the same 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine and continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) as the last model.

The company has made changes to the chassis, saying it’s 6% more rigid than last year’s, which should tighten the handling.

It gets a new look, with a jutting jaw for a front fascia and aggressively styled rocker panels, making it look planted to the ground.

Inside, a pair of 12.3-inch screens — a driver’s instrument display and a central touch screen mounted together like a single sweep of screen — make it feel high-tech for an inexpensive car.

The 2026 Sentra also features Nissan’s ProPilot Assist system, which can steer, accelerate, and brake to keep pace with traffic. It doesn’t let the driver take their hands off the steering wheel, but it should reduce the workload of driving on longer trips.

2026 Nissan Sentra Pricing

Keeping the changes modest helped Nissan do the same to the price. The Sentra remains one of the more affordable entries in the compact car class. All prices include a mandatory $1,245 destination fee.
