  • Nissan will sell the 2026 Altima in just two trim levels, down from four.
  • Both will be offered in front- or all-wheel drive.

The Nissan Altima returns for the 2026 model year, but with a significantly streamlined lineup. Nissan will offer just two trim levels of its midsize sedan, down from four in 2025.

A 2024 report claimed that Nissan was likely to cancel almost all of its sedans over the next few years. The company suffered poor sales results in 2024 and 2025, and has recently sought out merger partners (unsuccessfully) and trimmed a few models from its lineup.

That had industry insiders questioning whether there would be a 2026 Altima.

The car returns, but with fewer choices. It keeps its comfortable Zero Gravity front seats and options for front- or all-wheel drive (FWD or AWD).

The car sees a few updates for 2026. A formerly optional 12.3-inch touchscreen is now standard. So is a wireless charging pad.

A new SR Midnight Edition package darkens the grille and exterior trim and rides on black 19-inch wheels.
