Most new vehicles rely on touchscreen-based infotainment systems, but most Mazda models function a bit differently. The 2026 Mazda CX-70 Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV) pairs a 12.3-inch display with the brand’s unique control setup, which is worth a closer look if you’re considering this vehicle.
What Screen Does It Have?
Both trims of the CX-70 PHEV, the SC and SC Plus, come with a standard 12.3-inch screen. The redesigned CX-5 features an updated full touchscreen, but this update did not extend to any other Mazda models, including the CX-70 PHEV, for 2026.
Instead, the CX-70 PHEV’s infotainment is mainly controlled by a rotary knob on the center console, which lets you move side to side to make selections. However, there is one exception: if you connect your phone to your vehicle via Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, your screen becomes a touchscreen. Just like magic!
Smartphone Connectivity
Speaking of connections, both trims come with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration.

To do this, you can press the voice recognition button on the steering wheel and say your command. Alternatively, you can set up hands-free listening so that you don’t even need to push a button — just say “Hey Alexa” and ask your question.
What Makes It Different from Other Models?
The standard infotainment functions on the CX-70 PHEV’s system are the same as those on other models. However, one notable difference is that the system includes controls and displays information specific to the plug-in hybrid powertrain.
You can access PHEV-specific settings via the home screen, including options to modify regenerative braking levels and start your hybrid system in EV mode.
Does the Higher Trim Get More Infotainment Features?
Both the SC and SC Plus trims share the same core infotainment hardware and software, so there aren’t many differences between them.
Moving up to the Plus trim primarily adds additional comfort features, such as Active Driving Display head-up display, leather seating, ventilated front seats, and heated rear seats.
