- For 2026, the Lucid Air sedan gets some luxury upgrades and Tesla Supercharger access
The Lucid Air does a lot of things well. It’s one of the longest-range electric vehicles (EVs) on the road. It’s ultra luxurious, with options like a stunning 21-speaker sound system and facial-recognition tech that learns each driver’s preferences and adjusts the seats, mirrors, and more to match the person who just slid into the driver’s seat.
The Air is generous with space – we’ve put 6-footers behind 6-footers inside comfortably.
For 2026, it’s about to get better. Upgrades for the new model year include a quieter ride, new seats for some models, and the ability to use Tesla’s extensive Supercharger network. That last update deserves an asterisk, though. The Air will charge considerably faster from non-Tesla charging stations.
Supercharger Access With a Speed Limit
- Lucid owners gain access to Tesla Superchargers with an adapter
- But the Air will charge much faster at non-Tesla chargers
Until recently, EV builders each used one of several different charging ports. That could leave drivers searching for a public charger that would work with their car (though most EV owners do most of their charging at home).
Over the past two years, the industry has finally converged on a single plug shape. Lucid, like other EV builders, plans to switch to the Tesla-style NACS charging port.
Tesla has been programming its chargers to work with cars from other brands. Beginning July 31, all Lucid owners will be able to plug into Tesla Superchargers. They’ll need an adapter to use them. Lucid plans to sell approved adapters for $220.
But there’s a catch. Air sedans will accept energy from Superchargers at a speed of just 50 kW. They can absorb the stuff from non-Tesla-style CCS adapters at over 300 kW.
At a Tesla charging station, Lucid says, the Air can “gain up to 200 miles of range per hour of charging.” At a CCS-equipped DC fast charger capable of delivering 350 kW, that same 200 miles would take only 12 minutes, the company says.
New Quiet Cooling, Seat Options
- Other upgrades include better seats on Grand Touring models and longer range on the Touring trim
All Air trims get a new, quieter air conditioning system “to improve cooling capacity while further reducing ambient noise in the cabin” for the new model year.
Other upgrades depend on trim level. Touring models see a 6% range increase, now getting up to 431 miles between charging sessions.
The more luxe Grand Touring edition gets new seats that adjust 20 ways, with heating, ventilation, and massage settings.
