- New front-wheel-drive (FWD) SE and SEL trims lower the starting price of the 2026 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid.
- The 2026 Tucson Hybrid SE FWD costs $32,550, including destination fee, which is essentially $1,500 cheaper than the SE AWD.
- Hyundai also introduces a new Night blacked-out appearance trim built off the top Limited grade.
In a bid to offset high new car prices, Hyundai has announced a cheaper front-wheel-drive (FWD) version of the 2026 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid. The new base SE FWD costs $1,500 less than the prior entry point in the Blue SE AWD. So basically, if you want all-wheel drive (AWD), it’ll cost you an extra $1,500.
The 2026 Tucson Hybrid SE FWD costs $32,550, including a $1,600 destination fee. A better-equipped SEL FWD grade with creature comforts like heated front seats and a power driver’s seat was also introduced for $34,000.
The expansion of drivetrain options to lower the starting price follows the redesigned 2026 Toyota RAV4. For the first time, Toyota made the best-selling non-truck in the U.S. standard as a hybrid, with FWD standard and AWD optional. Formerly, the RAV4 Hybrid was AWD only. The Tucson Hybrid SE FWD now undercuts the RAV4 LE, which costs $33,350.
The 2026 Tucson Hybrid also undercuts the Honda CR-V Hybrid ($37,080), as well as relatively new hybrid SUVs such as the Subaru Forester Hybrid ($36,415), Mazda CX-50 Hybrid ($36,245), and Jeep Cherokee ($36,995), which all have AWD standard. As far as compact hybrid SUVs go, only the related 2026 Kia Sportage Hybrid ($31,985) costs less than the base Tucson.
2026 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid Night
On the other end of the pricing spectrum of Hyundai’s bestseller, a new Night AWD trim adds popular cosmetic features. The Night rolls on black 19-inch alloy wheels, sports black bumper accents, black mirror caps, black window surrounds, and the interior features a black headliner. Going back to black with the fully loaded Night costs $44,175, which tops the Limited trim as the most expensive version of the Tucson Hybrid. That includes a Bose sound system, a heated steering wheel, leather upholstery, and a 12-inch head-up display.
The 2026 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid is on sale now, though configurators don’t show the new Night trim or the FWD models yet. If interested, ask local dealers when those models will arrive in stock.
