The Toyota Grand Highlander was perhaps the most logical new car of 2024. For 2025, the automaker doesn’t see the need to change much in that formula. But a lower price would be nice.
Like, say, $42,310 (including a mandatory $1,450 delivery fee). That’s $2,460 lower than the entry point for 2024’s Grand Highlander.
To design the vehicle, Toyota simply added a few inches to its strong-selling Highlander SUV to make its third row suitable for adults, and had an immediate sales success.
Toyota hasn’t actually trimmed prices for the new model year. Instead, the company will introduce a new base model with fewer creature comforts to bring the point of entry down. Other changes for 2025 include a stylish Nightshade Edition.
Grand Highlander LE
The new base model comes with the same 12.3-inch touchscreen operating wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as higher trim levels, as well as a power liftgate and heated side mirrors. Seating for eight means it foregoes the standard second-row captain’s chairs of XLE models.
Buyers can get the LE with the standard turbocharged gasoline engine or as the Grand Highlander Hybrid with its gas-electric powertrain, and in front-wheel drive (FWD) or all-wheel drive (AWD). But they’ll have to wait: Toyota says it won’t begin building the new entry-level model until early next year.
Nightshade Edition
Toyota will also bring its Nightshade Edition dark treatment to the Grand Highlander for 2025. That means black 20-inch alloy wheels, blacked-out door handles, black window trim, black badges, black mirror caps, and a black rear spoiler.
It comes only in Midnight Black Metallic, Windchill Pearl, and Cement.
Other changes for 2025 include a new standard removable second-row center console for models with captain’s chairs and a new deep gray exterior paint color called Heavy Metal. Other trims of the 2025 Toyota Grand Highlander are expected to reach dealerships in late December.
