Every 2025 Polestar 2 buyer will drive home the top-of-the-line version of the electric sedan. Polestar has stopped selling other trims.
Until recently, the high-riding Polestar 2 came in single- and dual-motor versions. Buyers of the dual-motor version had the option of a Performance Pack that boosted horsepower. But Polestar now lists only the Long-Range Dual-Motor with Performance Pack vehicle in its online configurator.
That model gets 476 hp and 546 lb-ft. of torque, good for a 0-60 mph run in a scant 4 seconds. It has an EPA-certified range of 254 miles and a starting price of $66,200 delivered.
The move comes as Polestar attempts to survive proposed Biden-administration regulations that would block Chinese-derived software from cars sold in America. The Polestar 2 is built in China, and the company has warned that the proposed rules could prohibit U.S. sales.
Polestar plans to build upcoming products like the Polestar 3 SUV in partnership with Volvo in South Carolina. But the Polestar 2 is the sole product the company sells today.
