The 2025 Kia K4 is like a sudden cool breeze in a heat wave — welcome and unexpected. Most automakers have virtually abandoned sedan shoppers. We’re used to writing about their cancellation. But Kia surprised everyone with an all-new 4-door car for the next model year.
It will start under $24,000 – lower than much of the compact car class.
It takes the place of the Forte – a car that received lots of praise from the automotive press but never caught on with shoppers as the Civic/Corolla rival it should be. The K4 will try to win shoppers’ awareness with more dramatic styling but similar virtues to its predecessor.
It will offer the kind of long feature list and exceptionally long warranty that makes the Forte a good buy. But it will bid for your attention with an eye-catching blend of angular lines and an aggressive fastback profile.
Inside, the K4 gets a modern, clean-look interior with what looks like a single wide screen (it’s actually two – one for the driver and another in the center) and a similarly angular steering wheel.
Most K4 models get a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine making 147 horsepower and a continuously variable transmission under the hood. That combination should make it perform much like most of its rivals. But an available 190-horsepower 1.6-liter turbocharged engine and 8-speed automatic transmission will give buyers a sportier option.
