The Kia Sportage was redesigned entirely for 2023, and Kia appears to feel they got it just right. The Korean automaker has made almost no changes to the compact SUV for the 2024 model year.
We can’t disagree with them. Our expert reviewer found the redesigned Sportage “so peaceful and serene that it rivals some luxury brands,” though we felt the engine was “adequate, but not thrilling.” A well-planned interior with a large curved display and an adult-friendly back seat did a lot to recommend it, too.
So perhaps few changes were justified. For 2024, the Sportage loses the midlevel SX all-wheel-drive (AWD) trim level.
Every trim level now gets second-row seat-mounted airbags and LED projector headlights. That’s the entire list of changes.
The Sportage narrowly lost to the redesigned Honda CR-V for our Best Buy Award in the compact SUV class. But Kia’s pricing update keeps the Sportage more affordable – the Honda starts at $29,500.
