Honda introduced an off-road-oriented TrailSport trim to its Passport 2-row midsize SUV lineup two years ago. But only in the way you announce a diet plan before the holidays. It didn’t mean it.
For 2024, the Honda Passport has a TrailSport trim. But this one means it. It’s been to the doctor. It’s signed up for a 5K in the spring. The Passport even paid for Noom. The weight is coming off.
The old TrailSport got some visual cues that made it look a bit outdoorsy but little in the way of actual off-road upgrades. The new TrailSport gets General Grabber all-terrain tires backed by a retuned suspension system meant for varied surfaces. New stabilizer bars allow for greater wheel articulation, and a track widened by 10 millimeters should improve stability.
Honda hasn’t released pricing for the 2024 Passport. The 2023 model on dealer lots today starts at $41,100, and the midgrade TrailSport trim pushes the manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) to $43,600.
The 2024 Passport also gets the opposite of a TrailSport edition — a new Black Edition meant to look sharp on the road. It gets exclusive black badges, a blackened grille, black-painted wheels, and darkened trim outside. Inside, red contrast stitching adds style, while heated-and-ventilated front seats and heated outboard rear seats add comfort.
Other trim levels get just one change — a new center console with a larger storage bin and an integrated armrest. It’s a small change, but the kind of change an automaker makes after feedback, so we’re glad to see it.
