Cadillac is going out of its way to remake its image as a sport electric automaker. But the brand’s best-selling vehicle for many years has been the Escalade full-size SUV. The big luxury 3-row can be anything from an elegant highway cruiser to an improbably huge performance car with a 4.4-second 0-60 time in Escalade-V trim.
Cadillac will make almost no changes to the model for the next model year. The 2024 Escalade gets GM’s Super Cruise hands-free highway driving system as standard equipment on all but the base trim.
Super Cruise comes as part of a package including adaptive cruise control, enhanced automatic emergency braking, and reverse automatic emergency braking. And it requires a subscription to GM’s OnStar service to keep it running. The first three years are included with the purchase. After that, you’ll pay a monthly subscription fee, and we can’t tell you what it will cost three years from now.
That, and a few new paint options, are the only changes for 2024.
We had expected to see an all-new Cadillac Escalade for the 2024 model year. But reports say it has been delayed a year due to aftereffects from the recently settled auto workers’ strike.
That’s not bad news for buyers — the current Escalade sells so well because it’s the correct answer for many buyers. Our reviewers praise its elegant, spacious interior (which “could double as a Manhattan studio apartment”) and impressive cabin tech.
But Cadillac will likely start showing off an Eskie update early in 2024, with the strike settled. The company recently unveiled an all-electric cousin, the 2025 Escalade IQ, which looks more contemporary and will join the showroom floor in late 2024. Cadillac almost certainly has an update in the works to keep its cashflow-generating gas version competitive.
