2024 Buick Envision Gets Sharper Looks, Hands-Free Tech

The 2024 Buick Envision seen from a front quarter angleThe 2023 Buick Envision is a comfortable premium compact SUV — a touch more luxurious than something from Ford or Toyota, but less pricey than a pure luxury vehicle from Lexus or Buick’s corporate cousin, Cadillac. Our expert reviewers like its just-right price and feature level, saying it’s good for those “just dipping their metaphorical toes into the posher pools of luxury vehicle ownership.”

But, equip it with many options, and its price puts it in a competition where it can’t quite hang.

For 2024, Buick has a plan to up the appeal. The Envision isn’t getting a full redesign. But it’s due for a styling refresh inside and out, and designers have come up with a nice one.

Buick hasn’t released pricing. For perspective, though, the 2023 Envision starts at $33,400.

Wildcat-Derived Look

The Envision gets a larger grille. In 2023, almost every car is getting a larger grille. A narrower set of slit headlights lend it a more athletic look. Buick says the design is borrowed from its recent Wildcat concept car — one of the loveliest concepts we’ve seen in recent years but a largely pointless coupe, as Buick these days is an all-SUV brand.

Buick’s new logo, with the three famous shields separate, looks neat on the hood above.

Buick hasn’t released detailed photos of the updated cabin. But the one shot they did send us shows updated digital displays that resemble those of the recent Encore GX redesign. That’s a good thing. The Encore GX features a pair of screens — one in front of the driver and one in the center console — together in a stylish trapezoidal pod.

Super Cruise Comes to Buick

But the photo is intended to convey the other big news. The 2024 Envision “will bring Super Cruise to the brand,” Buick says. GM’s hands-free driving system works on about 400,000 miles of pre-mapped North American highways. It’s not clear from Buick’s press release whether the Envision is getting the most updated version, which can change lanes with a tap of the turn signal stalk.
