2023 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Gets Standard AWD, Price Increase

2022 Mitsubishi Eclipse CrossThe Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross competes for your attention in the tough, crowded compact SUV segment. It’s easily forgotten there despite a recent redesign that gave it handsome, angular looks and an updated infotainment system.

But the affordable compact SUV class is chock full of excellent choices like the Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4. It’s hard for the Mitsu to find any daylight there.

For 2023, Mitsubishi will try to improve the value proposition by making every Eclipse Cross all-wheel-drive (AWD).

Critics often praise Mitsubishi’s AWD system, which it calls “Super All-Wheel Control.” It combines a standard AWD system with stability control, yaw control, and wheel braking to create exceptional stability and grip.

All trim levels also gain LED headlights and fog lights as standard equipment for the new model year. Other than the base ES model, every trim also gains larger, 18-inch wheels.

The additions bring prices up a bit, but the increase is mostly an illusion. Last year, a base Eclipse Cross cost just $23,935, but that was a front-wheel-drive model. With the AWD system, it came close to the price of the new base model.
