2023 Lincoln Corsair Gets Makeover, Hands-Free Driving Tech

Advertising would have you believe Lincoln mostly sold huge, ultra-luxurious SUVs. But the brand’s best-selling model is its smallest, the compact Corsair SUV. Lincoln seems to have a lot of success luring shoppers in with bigger models like the Aviator and Navigator, then showing them something similar that stays within their budget thanks to its smaller size.

For the 2023 model year, Lincoln has given the Corsair a refresh that leans into its big brothers.

Family Resemblance

Visually, the biggest change is a larger grille. It loses the chain-link-fence motif of the old model and, instead, borrows the vertical mesh look of other Lincolns. It’s also bigger, but just barely avoids looking too big.

There are no mechanical updates for the new model year. The Corsair is available with a 250-horsepower 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, a 295-horsepower 2.3-liter turbocharged powerplant, or an excellent plug-in hybrid setup making 266 total horsepower and offering 28 miles of all-electric range.

Hands-Free Tech, Larger Screen

Inside, the Corsair gets a generous 13.2-inch navigation screen as standard equipment. It runs Ford’s SYNC 4 system and can receive over-the-air updates. Amazon Alexa is built-in if you’d rather stick to voice commands for climate, entertainment, and navigation functions.

There’s also a new (available) Auto Air Refresh feature that monitors particles in the air and adjusts filtration automatically. It doesn’t appear to involve any new cabin air filters – it just automates using the existing filters.

Two new interior themes are offered. You can probably guess what Eternal Red does to the upholstery. Smoked Truffle uses soft medium browns and neutral tones and must smell amazing.

But the big news inside is Active Glide. Lincoln’s version of Ford’s BlueCruise system, it allows drivers to take their hands off the wheel on about 130,000 miles of pre-mapped highway. The Corsair is just the second vehicle, after the Ford Mustang Mach-E, to get the updated 1.2 system that can change lanes on its own.
