The Kia Carnival is getting slightly more expensive for the 2023 model year. Unless you want the really nice one. That one’s getting cheaper. It will have a longer equipment list, too.
The Carnival was new for 2022, replacing the practical but predictable Sedona minivan that Kia dealers had sold for many years. The Carnival made a more assertive argument for itself, with SUV-like styling, inventive seating arrangements, and the most powerful engine available in a minivan.
It wasn’t enough to knock the Toyota Sienna off its throne as our Best Buy among minivans. But it came close.
So Kia saw little need to make changes for the Carnival’s second model year. It will once again be offered in LX, EX, SX, and SX Prestige trim.
The lower three trim levels get a slight price bump (ranging from $40 to $340) to account for inflation and the added cost of shipping parts.
But the SX Prestige model sees a price drop (by $560).
Oddly, for less money, you’ll get more. Kia has made the 8-passenger seating configuration with a flexible center seat that becomes a table or slides forward, allowing parents easy access to a child safety seat, standard.
The SX model now comes with a larger, 12.3-inch driver’s instrument screen and a blind-spot view monitor.

Kia also charges a $1,335 destination fee on all Carnivals.
