The 2023 Acura Integra will start at $30,800. But, if you want the manual transmission that has been a vital part of the hype over the car, you’ll need to fork over an extra $5,000 for the top-of-the-line Integra A-Spec with the Technology Package.
A Reborn 90’s Legend (Not That Legend)
The Integra is the car that built the Acura name in the U.S. Sold from 1986 to 2001, it was an upscale, sporty compact 5-door built on the same platform as the Honda Civic. Integras were popular with enthusiasts on a budget – they cost more than an equivalent Honda but were surprisingly affordable for luxury cars. They were known for tight driving manners and legal-speed fun.
The tuner community also embraced them. It became routine to see Integras modified for better performance or just funkier looks.
Honda’s luxury brand has done well in the States but has never again built a car with the kind of fan base the original Integra brought them.
So, for 2023, they’ve brought it back.
The new Integra is an upscale, sporty compact 5-door built on the same platform as the Honda Civic. It looks like we imagine today’s Integra would look if Acura had never stopped building them.
Today’s Integra uses a 1.5-liter turbocharged inline 4-cylinder engine making 200 horsepower. It’s the same engine found in the Honda Civic Si. It comes only in front-wheel-drive with a choice of a continuously variable transmission (CVT) or a short-throw 6-speed manual.
The Civic Si, we should note, starts at $27,300.
Three Trim Levels
The base Integra comes well-equipped to help separate it from the Civic lineup. It has a sunroof and heated seats (power-adjustable for the driver), standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a full list of driver aids, including adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assist. But its 7-inch touchscreen is inexcusably small for an Acura, and its 8-speaker sound system is getting side-eye at this price.
A step up to the A-Spec mostly changes cosmetic details. It includes a lip spoiler, glossy black trim, and Shark Gray 18-inch alloy wheels.
But it’s the A-Spec with Technology Package that earns the headlines. It’s the only version offered with that 6-speed stick (though you can also get it with the CVT for the same price). It also gets an adaptive suspension with adjustable stiffness, leatherette and faux-suede upholstery, a slightly-more-respectable 9-inch screen, and 16 speakers for the sound system.
Reservations Available
Acura anticipates heavy demand for the return of the Integra, so dealers are selling it through a reservation system. Dealers began accepting reservations for a $500 refundable fee in March. They later contact reservation holders to accept their orders.
Acura expects the first Integras to reach buyers in June.
