2022 Range Rover SV Offers 1.6 Million Different Configurations

Some people aren’t particularly picky about the details of their cars. Give them something that gets them where we’re going, and they’re happy.

Those people rarely buy Range Rovers.

Range Rover is aiming for a different type of customer. One who wants to customize every element of their car’s interior. One whose ears perk up at the news that you can order the new 2022 Range Rover SV with different colored front and rear seats, if that’s your fancy.

The New 2022 Range Rover, Not the Old 2022 Range Rover

First, the confusing bit – Range Rover parent company just recently released an entirely new, redesigned Range Rover. It’s called the 2022 Range Rover. It replaces the car currently on dealership lots, also called the 2022 Range Rover. This article refers entirely to the new one.

The all-new 2022 Range Rover wears a handsome evolution of the classic Range Rover silhouette. Powertrain choices include a V6 mated to a mild hybrid system or a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 sourced from BMW. Pricing starts at $104,000 but could likely reach over $200,000 with every possible customization.

The SV edition carries the 523-horsepower V8, and a near-endless array of customization options. Land Rover says, “final prices and specifications” will be confirmed “in early 2022.”

Ceramics, Mosaics, and Wood Marquetry

The options include some lavish materials we’ve scarcely ever seen used in a car.

Buyers can order the shifter, drive mode selector, and volume knob made from ceramic material, with glassy or satin finishes. Ceramic mosaic pattern-embossed panels can replace some of the wood trim inside.

Optional wood trims include some exotic ones, a few sustainably sourced, and biodegradable. African wenge wood, for instance, is rare and the trees are listed as endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature. But Land Rover worked with the Forest Stewardship Council to obtain a supply of it from FSC Certified responsibly-managed forests.

They then laser-cut it into hundreds of pieces, which are hand-laid in an optional mosaic veneer on the center console.

Each Row of Seats with its Own Color

Still not done customizing? Seats come upholstered in semi-aniline leather, near-aniline leather, or a synthetic “Ultrafabric” that, Land Rover says, “has all the tactile qualities of leather but is 30 percent lighter and generates only a quarter of the CO2” in production. Buyers can order the front and rear seats in different colors.

Choose Any Paint Color

Outside, SV models come in all the colors of other Range Rover trims, plus 14 additional hues specific to the SV.  Buyers can pair some with a contrast-color roof in black or bronze. But, should you not find your preferred color in that palette, Range Rover will match any paint sample you send them for an undisclosed fee.

Buyers can choose from a selection of seven different wheel designs.

Should all this choice seem overwhelming, Land Rover has curated two pre-made combinations. Serenity uses a silver and bronze theme, while Intrepid is based on a darker anthracite and graphite color set.
